Accounts

Which accounts does BankStmt know about, where did each one come from, and what was its most recent balance? This screen answers that, and lets you tidy up the details.

What it shows

One row per account. Accounts appear here in two ways: they are detected automatically from the statements you upload, and they can be connected directly to a bank. Both kinds are listed together.

Column	What it contains
Account	Your own name for the account. Detected accounts start with a name derived from the bank and masked number.
Bank	The bank the account belongs to.
Account #	The masked account number, showing only the last few digits.
Source	Account statement for accounts detected from uploads, Direct connection to the bank for connected ones.
Type	Checking, Savings, Credit card, Loan, Investment, Cash or Other.
Currency	The account's currency.
Country	The country detected for the account, where one was found.
Balance	The most recent balance known for the account, in its own currency.

If nothing has been uploaded or connected yet, the screen shows an empty state instead of a table.

Features

Feature	What it does
Inline editing	Account name, bank, masked number, type, currency and country are all editable directly in the table. Changes save as you leave the cell.
Type picker	The Type cell offers the supported account types rather than free text.
One combined list	Statement-detected and directly connected accounts are merged into a single table, with the Source column telling them apart.

How to use it

1. Upload a statement — the account it belongs to is created for you and appears here.
2. Rename it to something you recognise by clicking the Account cell and typing.
3. Fill in anything the statement did not carry — usually the type, and sometimes the country.
4. Use the Source column to check whether a row came from a statement or from a bank connection.

Notes and limits

• Balance is the closing running balance from the most recent statement that supplied one. Accounts whose statements carry no running balance show a dash.
• Balances are shown per account in that account's own currency, and are never converted or summed across currencies. For combined totals see Consolidated.
• Accounts are matched on the bank and account number found in the statement, so uploading more statements for the same account adds to the existing row rather than creating a new one.
• Archived accounts are not listed.
• If an edit cannot be saved, the row reloads to the stored values so what you see always matches what is held.
