Product overview

BankStmt is a bank-transaction intelligence platform. It brings transactions in from any source, reconciles them into one ledger, and builds analytics, review tools and delivery on top of it. Converting a statement to a spreadsheet is one feature; it is not the product.

Transactions in, from any source

  • Statement files — text PDFs, scans and photos, password-protected PDFs, CSV and other delimited text, Excel, OFX / QFX / QBO, QIF, JSON and HTML statements, up to 100 MB each.
  • Watched cloud folders — files dropped into a connected Google Drive, OneDrive or SharePoint library, Dropbox or Box folder are picked up automatically (see Integrations; each connector appears once it is enabled for your workspace).
  • Live bank connections — on paid plans, where open banking is available for your bank, transactions arrive directly without any file.
  • The API — on Professional and Business, your own systems post statements and read the results.

Every source lands in the same pipeline, so the result is one ledger regardless of where a transaction came from.

One ledger that reconciles

  • Text PDFs are read deterministically from the page's own coordinates; scans go through OCR; a language model is used only for layouts the parser cannot structure.
  • A statement is complete only when it reconciles — opening plus credits minus debits equals the printed closing balance, printed totals and counts match where the bank prints them, and every running balance follows from the row before. Anything else stays flagged incomplete, with the failing check named. See Reconciliation & review.
  • The first statement from a new bank builds a profile for that bank, country and account type; later statements reuse and refine it. There are no templates to build.
  • Exact re-uploads are rejected and their pages refunded; rows that already exist are quarantined rather than doubled; transfers between your own accounts are matched and kept out of income and spending.

Intelligence on top

  • Merchants and categories — noisy statement text becomes recognisable merchant names; categories are suggested, learned from your corrections, and governed by rules you set per workspace or per client.
  • Dashboards — transactions, consolidated view, spending, income, money flow, forecast, financial health, loan eligibility, tax, business summary, investments, plus the review queue, transfers, duplicates, refunds and the bank-versus-books ledger. See Dashboards.
  • Integrity and risk — a statement integrity score with evidenced findings, and per-transaction risk signals. See Fraud.
  • AI assistant — on paid plans, plain-language answers grounded in figures computed from your own transactions. See AI insights.

Delivery

Twelve export formats on every plan, connectors that push straight into accounting software and spreadsheets, signed webhooks and a REST API. See Exports and Integrations, open banking & API.

Who it is for

  • Accounting and bookkeeping firms — client workspaces, roles, a coverage tracker, a client upload portal, questions to clients, a review queue, a bank-versus-books diff and a handover pack. See For accounting firms.
  • Small businesses — cash-flow trends, recurring commitments, period summaries and an indicative tax position across every account and currency.
  • Individuals and households — every account in one place, real merchant names, subscriptions surfaced, a forecast from your own patterns, on the free plan.
  • Lenders and analysts — integrity scoring, balance-continuity checks, amount-pattern analysis, income stability and affordability figures.

Good to know

  • Processing is asynchronous — upload returns immediately, progress is shown live, and dashboards refresh when a statement completes.
  • Accounts can be in any currency. Figures are computed in each transaction's own currency and are never added across currencies silently; you can choose a display currency that converts figures at an indicative daily rate while stored amounts stay untouched.
  • The interface is available in 18 languages.
