Income analytics
Income analytics answers "where does my money come from, and can I rely on it?" — a breakdown of income by source, the individual payments behind each source, and views showing how steady that income has been.
What it shows
The screen is a strip of tabs. The first is the source breakdown; the rest look at income over time.
| Tab | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Sources | A donut of income by source. Click a slice to list that source's individual payments below — date, description and amount, with a Total row. |
| Income stability | Monthly income plotted against its average, with a band of one standard deviation either side |
| Income consistency | Monthly income against its median — steady months and off-trend or missing months are shown differently |
| Income sources over time | A stacked area showing how each source contributes month to month; the six largest sources are named and the rest grouped as "Other" |
Features
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Click-through detail | Clicking a source slice lists its payments without leaving the page |
| Source grouping | Payments are grouped by recognised payer/merchant name, so variants collapse into one source |
| Total row | The payments table pins a Total row to the bottom |
| Paging | The payments table pages once a source has more than twelve payments |
| Data table under every chart | Each visualisation shows the exact figures behind it |
| Chart export | Hover a chart to download PNG or PDF; the PDF includes the data table |
| Table tools | Tables offer search, a column chooser and CSV / Excel / PDF export |
How to use it
- Set the period at the top of the page.
- On Sources, click the largest slice to see the individual payments that make it up, newest first.
- Check the Total row against what you expect for that source over the period.
- Switch to Income stability to see how far each month sits from your average.
- Switch to Income consistency to spot months where an expected payment was late or missing.
- Use Income sources over time when you want to see a source starting, growing or stopping.
Notes and limits
- Income only. Every panel counts money arriving in the account. Spending is on the Spending drilldown screen.
- The period filter. Presets are: last year up to your latest statement (the default), last year to today, last six months, last three months, this month, and a custom from/to pair. The window is inclusive and matched on posted date, and it is shared across the Analytics tabs. Until the period resolves the screen shows nothing rather than briefly showing every year of data.
- Sources are derived from the payment itself, not from a list you maintain. Where no payer could be recognised, the transaction description is used as the source name, so an employer or client that appears under several very different descriptions may show as more than one source.
- The breakdown covers the top 50 sources by amount, and the sources-over-time chart names the six largest and groups the remainder.
- Transfers in count as income if they arrive in the account as credits. Movements between your own accounts are not excluded.
- Amounts are totalled as recorded and are not converted between currencies.
- With no income in the selected period, the panels show an empty state rather than zeros.
Every plan includes this screen; plans differ only by the monthly page allowance — see Plans & limits.
