Files
Where are my documents, and what happened to each one? Files is the store behind everything else: you upload statements here, organise them into folders, and watch each one move through processing.
What it shows
A folder tree. Folders and files sit in the same table, folders first, and a folder's contents load the first time you open it.
| Column | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Name | The folder or file name. Always visible, and editable in place. |
| Type | The file's extension. Folders show as folders. |
| Size | The file size, in B, KB, MB or GB. Folders show a dash. |
| Modified | When the file was added. |
| Location | The storage location the file is held in. |
| Status | The processing status of the statement extracted from the file, colour-coded. |
| Actions | Download and delete for files; delete for folders. |
Status values are PENDING, PROCESSING, COMPLETED, FAILED and QUARANTINED. A file that has
never been analysed shows a dash.
Features
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Upload | Adds one or more files at once. |
| New folder | Creates a folder to group statements. |
| Drag to move | Drag a row onto a folder to move it there. Drop it on the empty area around the table to move it back to the top level. |
| Drag to copy | Hold Ctrl (or ⌘) while dropping to copy a file instead of moving it. Folders can only be moved. |
| Rename in place | Click a name, type, and press Enter. Renaming a folder moves everything inside it with it. |
| Column chooser | Show or hide any column except Name. |
| Column reorder | Drag column headers to rearrange them. |
| Sorting | Click a header to sort ascending, again for descending, and a third time to remove the sort. Folders always stay above files. |
| Location filter | Show only the files held in one storage location. |
| Download | Retrieves the original file exactly as uploaded. |
| Delete | Removes a file, or a folder and everything inside it, after confirmation. |
The simple list view
A flat, breadcrumb-based list of the same files is available at /files/list. It adds:
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Drag-and-drop zone | Drop statements anywhere on the panel, or click to browse. |
| Choose where new files are stored | Pick the storage location for uploads, grouped by region, or use your account default. |
| PDF password | Supply a one-time password for an encrypted PDF. It is used for that analysis only and is never stored. |
| Analyze | Starts processing for a file that has not been analysed yet. |
| Retry | Re-runs processing for a file whose statement failed or was quarantined. |
In this view, uploading also starts analysis automatically. In the folder browser, uploading stores the file without starting analysis.
How to use it
- Click Upload, or drag files onto the drop zone in the list view.
- Watch the Status column: a file moves to
COMPLETEDwhen its transactions are available. - Create folders and drag statements into them to keep years or accounts apart.
- Rename anything that arrived with an unhelpful filename.
- If a file failed, open the list view and use Retry; if it was an encrypted PDF, enter the password first.
Notes and limits
- Accepted file types: CSV, TSV, PSV, TXT, XLS, XLSX, PDF, JSON, QIF, QFX, OFX, HTML, HTM, and photos or scans as JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP or GIF.
- Maximum file size is 100 MB. Anything else is rejected with a message naming the accepted types.
- Processing is asynchronous. Upload returns immediately and the Status column updates as work completes.
- Deleting a folder deletes everything inside it and cannot be undone.
- A folder cannot be dropped into itself or into one of its own subfolders.
- Choosing where a file is stored is a data-residency choice — see Data residency.
- Uploads count against your monthly page allowance — see Plans & limits.
