Tax

Tax gives you a rough, indicative sense of what your accounts might attract in tax over a financial year — a starting point for a conversation with an accountant, not a filing figure.

Indicative only

The figures on this screen are estimates. They are not tax advice, not a filing-ready calculation and not a substitute for professional guidance. See Notes and limits.

What it shows

The page opens with the disclaimer, then three areas:

AreaWhat it contains
Financial year per accountOne row per bank account, showing the account, its country, its currency and the financial year it defaults to — plus month and year selectors to choose your own window
Per-currency cardsOne card per currency: the taxable base, the estimated tax, the effective rate and how many accounts are included
Total estimated tax by accountA table of account, country, financial year, currency, taxable base, estimated tax, effective rate and the number of periods covered
Estimated tax by account and financial yearThe same figures broken out into one row per account per financial year

Features

FeatureWhat it does
Country-aware financial yearsEach account is bucketed by the financial year of its own country — for example April to March, July to June, or January to December — rather than a single global year
Per-account year selectionSet a start month and year and an end month and year for any account, then apply; the estimate is recomputed for that window
Mixed selectionAccounts you leave blank keep their country default, so you can override one account without disturbing the others
All timeClears every selection and returns to the default all-time view
What-if flat rateReplace the modelled estimate with a single flat rate of your choosing, between 0% and 60%, applied to each account's taxable base
Per-currency totalsAmounts are grouped and reported by currency and never added across currencies

How to use it

  1. Open Tax. It loads with every account on its country's default financial year, across all your data.
  2. Read the per-currency cards for the headline taxable base and estimated tax.
  3. To scope an account to a particular year, set its From month and year and its To month and year, then choose Apply. Leave an account's selectors empty to keep its default.
  4. Choose All time to clear every selection and start again.
  5. To try your own rate, tick Use my own tax rate and drag the slider. The cards and both tables update immediately.
  6. Read Estimated tax by account & financial year for the year-by-year detail behind the totals.

Notes and limits

  • This is an estimate, not a filing figure, and not tax advice. The screen applies each country's simplified national income-tax brackets to a rough taxable base — net inflow, meaning money in minus money out for that account in that year.
  • Allowances, deductions, filing status, local and state taxes, social contributions and exemptions are not modelled. Real liability will differ, often substantially.
  • Consult a qualified tax professional before acting on anything here.
  • A partial selection is ignored. An account only moves off its country default when all four values — from month, from year, to month, to year — are set. If you enter the dates the wrong way round they are swapped for you.
  • The what-if flat rate is your own figure applied on top of the taxable base. It replaces the modelled estimate everywhere on the page and carries no more authority than the number you chose.
  • Totals are reported per currency and never summed across currencies.
  • Not every country has a modelled bracket set. Where one is missing, treat the estimate for that account with extra caution.
  • Selectable years run from next year back through the previous thirteen.
  • The estimate only sees transactions from statements you have uploaded and processed. If a year looks wrong, check for missing statements first.
